My grandson, who is a preschooler, has recently become interested in the solar system, specifically the moon, and “Moonshadow Mae” by Rosie Russell is the perfect book to help introduce a young child to lunar facts. The bouncing rhyming story and the colorful artwork will hold young readers’ attention, and the interesting information that this book provides will plunge them into many exciting details about science and the moon, generously provided at the end of the story. The text splits the information well between the pages so that there isn't too much text per page. The author did a fantastic job with simple explanations and other useful material about the moon, describing complicated concepts in terms that are easy to comprehend for a young child.

The illustrations are eye-catching, engaging, and showcase the text well. The story is creative, sweet, and well thought through; there is literally something for everyone at all levels in this book, appropriate for a four-year-old to a ten-year-old. It's easy to understand, visually appealing, and very interesting.

I loved how the author explained the science of the moon with the cool images, which make perfect sense and really get kids to understand the perspective. The drawings are well done, clear, and vivid. There are lots of specifics, which could lead to other lines of study. The wording flows easily and isn't overwhelming or extra lengthy. I recommend this book for every young astronomer in the making. Young readers will be delighted to explore the story part by part along with the colorful artwork! It is highly recommended for hours of fun!

It is that sort of beautiful fantasy writing that fills this sweet book. Baby G dreams of a beautiful woman whom he wishes were his mommy. He asks the heavenly bodies to help him find his mommy and eventually the storks carry him to see a kind mother and the mother accepts Baby G in her womb until Baby G is born – very welcome on earth!

This book consists of two short stories that focus on the advent of autumn and winter. At the outset of the first story, “The Autumn Wind,” the wind is lying in a hammock about to awaken for a new season of work. He smiles at the beautiful garden which is enjoying the final days of summer. As the wind starts to howl, the flowers and trees shiver and shake in their battle to maintain a fragile existence against the inevitable change of seasons. 

The second story, “The Kitten and the Sparrow,” is seen through the eyes of a kitten. This kitten is watching from inside a window as his friend, the sparrow, feels the sharp, biting signs of winter approaching. Soon there will be no food or protection from the harsh weather that approaches. The language is almost lyrical as we follow the personified characters play their roles. The colorful illustrations portray the emotions and mood as the seasons unfold.

Children witness both the beauty and power of nature told in a compelling narrative. Recommended as a read aloud, a bedtime story or beginning chapter book to be read by a child independently.

I adore children’s books with a good message, and “Timmy, the Flying Mouse” is certainly one of them. It is a sweet, charming story with a genial character whose extraordinary courage and determination will appeal to readers of all ages. This daring little mouse proves that even mice can fly.

The author sends a lovely message to readers: never, never, never give up on your dreams.

If you're prepared to fall in love and have your heart melted, you are going to love this book. It is a lovely story of bravery, supportive family, and commitment. A great bedtime read for younger children—either read by parents or by those who are venturing into slightly longer stories. Trying to introduce history to a young child can be tough, but not for this talented team. Barbara Mojica, a wonderful writer and history educator, and her husband, a creative and outstanding artist, Victor Mojica, did a terrific job in their new children’s book, Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INTREPID Sea, Air & Space Museum. By combining a strong visual content with a good story, they again showed young readers important events from American history that educate and entertain at the same time. Combining photography with art, Victor Mojica takes children onto the battleship, where they can clearly envision what it might be like to live on the ship during war and what its legacy means for us.

Each page is full of history that leads to discovering even more about this significant American landmark.
