Journey With Lessons of History

Delightful reads from Barbara Ann and Victor Ramon Mojica

Little Miss HISTORY Travels to MOUNT VERNON (Volume 7)

Who was George Washington? Washington is best known as America's first president, but he was also a military hero. If you asked George Washington what he really wanted to be, he would reply, "a farmer." Seeking to revolutionize antiquated 18th century farming methods, Washington experimented with crop rotation, fertilizers, plowing and plants. The Mount Vernon Ladies Association began restoring his estate to its former glory in 1853. Today the buildings, grounds and The Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center reveal the real Father of the United States of America.

Mrs.D.'s thoughts…

I could give no greater admiration than to say that reading the Little Miss History series truly blessed me in many ways. Through the eyes of Little Miss History, I discovered many historical landmarks and learned about the people who left a significant imprint on history and our country. The latest book, Little Miss History Travels to Mount Vernon, is beautifully written and illustrated by Barbara and Victor Mojica. It takes young readers to the eighteenth century, where children will learn about George Washington, the first president of the United States, his life, work, and death, and some sad facts about slavery. The story of Washington’s Mount Vernon mansion and plantation perfectly captures the era and the soul of the man, who deeply believed that every man should be free regardless of color or status. Sadly, he died before he could bring his vision to reality.

This is one of those books your child must read. It’s a very simple and quick read, but oh so effective! If you want to have a healthy conversation with your children about diversity, slavery, and historical events, but do not know how to spark their interest, the Little Miss History series is your perfect tool. Each book is uniquely illustrated and contains an instructive story, easy to read together with an elementary-school-age child or grandchild. It has beautiful art and simple language, and you’ll find it encouraging and inspiring to learn more about the country that our children have the privilege to live in. The Little Miss History series has multiple award-winning books, great reads for the younger generation yearning to learn more about America and the life of their peers before them.

This talented team of the wonderful writer and creative illustrator certainly know how to deliver page after page of engaging observations. While sophisticated in scope, the story reads quickly and is easy to digest. It feels like a breath of fresh air and is definitely an eye-opener for children who love to sink into a short history book, packed with facts. I must say, you'll want to read these books in a quiet place and look closely at each illustration. They’re full of amazing characters. Very interesting art and educational writing, worth every penny of your investment. If you’ve ever wanted to teach your children about our country’s past, the Little Miss History series is your map!

A fun children's book, which educates children about American history

Little Miss History Travels to MOUNT RUSHMORE (Volume 1)

Once again, Little Miss History takes readers on an exciting voyage through time!

Little Miss HISTORY Travels to The Statue of Liberty (Volume 2)

A charismatic and very captivating children's book!

Buckle up and enjoy your trip to Sequoia National Park!

Little Miss HISTORY Travels to FORD'S THEATER (Volume 4)

Well written and illustrated, Little Miss History Travels to Ford's Theater will help much younger children understand the history of America.

Each page is full of history that leads to discovering even more about this significant American landmark. The facts about this legendary battleship are fascinating, especially the information about its captain, who spent his own fortune to make it a museum, so generation after generation could learn about its heroic legacy and honor the heroes who fought for our freedom.

I recommend this book for those who would like to guide their children into an interest in American culture and history. It is great that the Mojicas understand targeted audiences for their history books. Because of their educational history books, elementary school children will have a chance to study legendary landmarks and have a better grasp of related material later in life.

My recommendation to parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians: chose these books! You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. They are fun to read, great for children, and full of historical facts and educational lessons. I read them just for extra knowledge! It is never too late to learn! Crafted by a very talented team, Mr. and Mrs. Mojica, these books have so much to offer. Give your child a gift—knowledge.

Where can you explore life on a submarine, an aircraft carrier, and outer space all in one place? At the INTREPID Sea, Air & Space Museum, visitors can watch war movies, view actual WW II planes, and explore the Growler nuclear submarine. The USS Intrepid served: in WW II, the Vietnam War, during the height of the Cold, and as FBI headquarters for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Read more about this one ship's amazing history, and the sacrifices of those who served on her, to keep the USA safe and free!

A journey begins with leaving one place and venturing forth toward a new one. Millions of immigrants left their homelands in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to seek the promise of a better future in America. Why did they abandon their homeland? Some fled from political oppression or slavery, others sought work or the possibility of acquiring land to farm. Those who entered the Great Hall on Ellis Island did so with fear in their hearts and hope in their eyes.

Come follow Little Miss HISTORY Travels to ELLIS ISLAND and explore their dreams and experiences as they passed through the gates. Perhaps you will see one of your ancestors reflected in their eyes. For most immigrants the end of their transatlantic voyage was a new beginning, for others it became “An Island of Tears.”

VICTOR RAMON MOJICA was born and raised in Manhattan, New York, but has lived in the Hudson Valley region since 1986 and now resides in Craryville, New York with his wife Barbara. He is an illustrator, cartoonist and writer with such works to his credit as the critically acclaimed, comic book series eugenus® ... The Next Step In Human Evolution!, which he created, wrote and illustrated. Victor has now written and illustrated his first children's book titled Captain Crossbones(™) in The Treasure Hunt, based on the comic strip appearing in The Columbia Insider, Pat Fisher and Ed Pollack, Publishers.

I absolutely adore Little Miss History, with whom I’ve already developed a special bond. I cannot wait to see where she will take me next.
