Even if you dislike cats, you will fall in love with this one. Nyda, an adorable calico cat, charms the reader with tales that are humorous, enchanting, and fun. Readers follow her adventures from the time of her birth. She is the first to climb out of the box, daring her brothers to follow her. Told in the first person, the personification is spot on, allowing the reader to experience the world through the eyes of a cat.
This kitten is curious, intelligent, and fearless. That leads to trouble. Nyda just wants to be friends with the creatures around her, but she has a knack for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. She breaks things and trespasses on their territory. Soon she finds herself separated from her family.
Nyda’s new owner lives in an apartment where she feels imprisoned. When Nyda jumps from the balcony, her adventures become a test for survival. As she navigates the outdoor world, she meets other creatures, friends, and foes until she comes across a family and Mrs. D, the owner she truly falls in love with.
I will not reveal all of Nyda’s adventures or secrets. Middle-grade, young adult, and adult readers will be fascinated by the world seen through the eyes of a feline. Beautiful illustrations add charm and even more personality to the stories.
