Anka Zhuravleva -Russian photographer and artist; Mixture of imagination and beauty!

Anka Zhuravleva

(Photography is a mixture of imagination and beauty where the artist clearly executes eye-pleasing photos which entice the viewer to think of a world where gravity doesn’t exist...)

Growing up in Moscow and creating art with her mother’s tools as a child helped fuel the artists fire that burns inside Russian photographer and artist Anka Zhuravleva. Spending much of her life painting and developing her creative techniques, and in 2006 Zhuravleva discovered her passion for photography after realizing that her inspiration for painting often came from photos. Zhuraleva’s latest set of photos, “Distorted Gravity” is a mixture of imagination and beauty where the artist clearly executes eye-pleasing photos which entice the viewer to think of a world where gravity doesn’t exist
The 30-year-old Russian artist and photographer has released her latest photo-artwork series titled Distorted Gravity, which sees her models suspended in mid-air in dream-like sequences.
Her pieces show similarities to the 1948 portrait photograph of Salvador Dali by Philippe Halsman, titled Dali Atomicus, which perhaps served as her inspiration.

American photographer Halsman combined flying cats and water caught in surreal motion surrounding his portrait of the Spanish painter.
In Anka’s work she captures glamorous women draped in floaty dresses and gives the illusion that they’re suspended in time and motion.
The Saint Petersburg-based artist has also spent time in front of the camera by working as a model in the 1990.

Art is not a handicraft, it is the transmission of feeling the artist has experienced.
